NVIDIA Announces Winter 2014 Game Bundle: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

With NVIDIA’s previous holiday 2013 GeForce bundle having expired with the end of the year, NVIDIA has announced that they will be running a winter 2014 bundle to replace it.
The new bundle will be a simpler bundle, composed of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and a SHIELD discount. With the winter game release lull upon us, Assassin’s Creed IV remains NVIDIA’s flagship game under The Way It’s Meant To Be Played program. This bundle will be for the GTX 660 and above, and is scheduled to run until February 28th.
Meanwhile the SHIELD discount is similar to the discount that was in NVIDIA’s holiday bundle, with NVIDIA offering a $50 discount on SHIELD when purchased with a qualifying GeForce card. After a series of temporary price cuts, SHIELD itself has now had its price permanently reduced to $249, which brings the final price down to $199 when purchased as part of NVIDIA’s latest promotion.

Finally, it’s worth noting that NVIDIA has discontinued their free-to-play bundle for the GTX 650 series, opting not to replace it. This leaves the GTX 660 and above as the only cards receiving a promotional bundle from NVIDIA at this time. This latest bundle should keep NVIDIA fairly even with AMD is the $150-$250 space, where AMD has their own Never Settle Forever Silver/Thief promotion going. Meanwhile above $250 this bundle further strengthens NVIDIA’s hand at this time, given the significant price advantage NVIDIA holds against the Radeon 280X and above due to Cryptocoin Mania.

Speaking of that Shield discount, when are we expecting a Tegra K1 version of it? The GPU performance boost may be worth waiting for, though the PC streaming functions (which admittedly most people probably use it more for than Android gaming) would likely be the same on both.yannigr - Friday, January 10, 2014 - link
I wouldn't expect any kind of discount for a K1 version of Shield except if it is as big as a failure as it was Tegra 4.(PS failure = limited market success, not bad performance)

A $199 price point would be the sweet spot, I think. Mobile components drop in price by about 30 percent or so every 12 months. So if all components would remain the same as last year, then a SHIELD could cost $175 this summer.But obviously it's going to use the K1 processor, so the price for that should remain roughly as much as last year (no drop in price for the processor), so then it should cost a little more than $175. With only the processor change, I think $199 is doable. But I think they will want to upgrade to a 1080p panel, too, and I'm not sure how much that will add.
If they can make it at least $229 like the new Nexus 7, that would still be quite good, but I still believe $199 is the sweet spot for a console like SHIELD, and $149 for a console like OUYA that could also arrive with a Tegra K1.

Funny thing that i bought a GTX 780 this christmas because it was the cheaper alternative.My cold basement in frozen canadian soil would have supported an overclocked 290X however....
Still a AMD fan.

Given the rise in popularity in geothermal HVAC for homes, it would be neat to experiment with tapping into such a system (underground closed loop water system) for cooling servers and PCs in the home. In the summer time I sometimes move my PC in front of the AC vent, but using a constant 7C water source from under the foundation would be superior year round...Trefugl - Friday, January 10, 2014 - link

You should have gotten an email from Amazon with a promo code. I bought a 660 last year and got an email with a code for Splinter Cell.Was it actually sold by Amazon.com and not some other seller? Not every re-seller gets to provide the game codes.

wtf bro, dont you read promotions?!!?you should've got 3 games, Batman Arkham Origins, Splinter Cell Black List and Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag, Contact Amazon and tell them you never got your codes and they will send you 3 codes, if things got fucked up, contact Nvidia as you are entitled to 3 games same way when i got mine 20 days ago.
