The webcomic mavens over at Penny Arcade are teaming up with EEDAR, a games industry consultancy created by former game designer Geoff Zatkin, to create the Decide-o-tron app for iPhone and iPad.
“The Decide-O-Tron is essentially Pandora for games,” wrote Jerry Holkins, aka “Tycho”, on the Penny Arcade website yesterday. “ It can very quickly build a library of the games you like and own, and then - just as quickly - tell you what you should play next.”
The Decide-o-tron will leverage EEDAR’s massive games database (which dates back to the GameBoy Advance) to makes its recommendations. You’ll also be able to browse other users’ libraries and create wishlists that you can forward to your friends around the holidays.
The free app should be available “in the next week or two” says Holkins, but attendees of this weekend’s Penny Arcade Expo can check it out in person. There's no word on whether versions for Android or other platforms will follow.

From the Decide-o-tron's Twitter account:CURRENTLY I AM FOR Ios DEVICES ONLY, HOWEVER, OTHER PLATFORMS ARE BEING... EXPLORED.
So we'll likely see it elsewhere eventually.

I think the randomness is supposed to be part of the fun. You could say you like tower defense, and maybe it will suggest an old school tower-defense predecessor on PSN like Rampart.Alexstarfire - Wednesday, August 24, 2011 - link
I hope you can specify what platforms you'd like the game recommendations to be on. I only have a computer and a Wii ATM, well and my Android phone. I'd rather not get recommendation for the 360, GBA, DS, 3DS, xBox, PS2, PS3, PSP, and/or iOS devices seeing as I don't own any of them.Craig Getting - Wednesday, August 24, 2011 - link
TouchArcade's pretty sure iOS games will not fall under Decide-o-tron's purview.http://toucharcade.com/2011/08/23/penny-arcade-rev...
I think that would just get way too crazy, given how huge the app store is.

Pandora just sends me songs I absolutely hate. 10-1 with a song I actually like. I think I decided discovering one song wasn't worth listening to 10 songs I hate. That said, interesting idea. But I don't own a smartphone, I guess for the PC it wouldn't work. hmm.
